Dr. Gersh receives her diploma and walking stick from Dr. Andrew Weil

On October 4, 2012, Dr. Felice Gersh completed the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona’s Center for Integrative Medicine. At the graduation ceremonies, Dr. Andrew Weil, founder and director of the Integrative Medicine program, presented Dr. Gersh with her diploma, along with a hand-carved walking stick, symbolic of the educational journey already undertaken and still yet to come.

The fellowship in Integrative Medicine required over 1,000 hours of course work during a 2-year period and combined onsite seminars in Arizona with distance learning. The faculty of the Integrative Medicine fellowship included world-renowned thought leaders and scholars within the fields of integrative, functional and holistic medicine.

Dr. Gersh is now one of only two fellowship-trained gynecologists practicing integrative medicine in California, and the only one located in Southern California. In approximately one year, Integrative Medicine will become sanctioned by the American Board of Medical Specialties. Only those physicians who have completed a formal fellowship program will be entitled to take the certifying examination and earn the recognition of this Board. At the time of the exam, Dr. Gersh will be one of only about 1,000 doctors worldwide deemed eligible for Board Certification in Integrative Medicine.
